American Samoa’s teacher of the year

American Samoa’s Teacher of the Year, Patricia Tuimalealiifano-Fuiava was in Washington to be honoured alongside other teachers as America’s best for 2008.

Patricia Tuimalealiifano-FuiavaAmerican Samoa 2008 Teacher of the Year, Patricia Tuimalealiifano-Fuiava, was congratulated on her achievement by Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin in his Washington, DC office.

On April 30, Patricia and her counterparts representing the states and other U.S. territories participated in a ceremony at the White House in which President George Bush was joined by Margaret Spellings, the Secretary of Education, to honour America’s teachers.

Patricia, who is an English teacher at the Manu’a High School, is the first Manu’a Island teacher to win Teacher of the Year.

At the end of her tour of the U.S. Capitol and visit to Congressman Faleomavaega’s office, Patricia posed for a picture on the West front of the Capitol.
