Fiji flag carrier Air Pacific will get new Airbus A330-200 aircrafts in place of the new Dreamliner B787 planes that it had earlier ordered and subsequently cancelled.
This is not the first time that a 767 is entering the airline’s fleet. It has had a long serving aircraft named Island of Taveuni, which has flown for over 18 years and which will be farewelled.
The airline’s CEO David Pflieger said that the airline had decided to buy new rather than used aircraft from other companies. The first of the three Airbus A330-200s will arrive in March 2013, followed by another in May 2013, and finally a third in November 2013.
From owning one of the most aged fleets in the industry, Air Pacific will go to having one of the youngest fleets when the three aircraft join service.
