Upcoming Pacific Fashion Shows

Pacific fashion to be showcased at two different fashion shows both in their second years, from the abstract high end fashion of the Pacific Fusion Fashion show to the community based Aku Yanga Cook Islands Show

The Pacific Fusion Fashion Show

Last year’s Pacific Fusion Fashion Show was a success, so this year they’re bringing it to Ōtara- the heart of south Auckland on Saturday August 26 at the Otara Town Centre.

The show features creations from 11 Pacific and Māori designers from across south Auckland, the United States and Australia, to be showcased by over 32 models.

Stylist, designer and show organiser Nora Swann says while participating designers are at the start-up phase of their business, but it’s not traditional fashion.

"This is abstract, contemporary and edgy and we chose south Auckland because we live and work here.

“We make and wear these clothes with pride, and we want to show people what local designers can do.”

Miss world Samoa 2015 Latafale Auva’a will return to host and there will be incredible dance performances from Ura Tabu with music from DJ Skeme; an opening Hip Hop/Opera dance set from Exit Four44 and interludes from Otara’s own GiantKilla.
