Contestants for Miss Samoa - which includes New Zealander Natalie - vie for online vote

The Miss Samoa online voting kicked off this week at the start of the most celebrated annual event in Samoa, the Teuila Festival. Samoan girls from around the Pacific will compete for the title of Miss Samoa, including New Zealand’s very own Natalie Leitulagi Toevai

The Pageant is an annual event dedicated to supporting opportunities for young Samoan women with the winner representing Samoa at this year's Miss South Pacific Pageant held in Samoa.

Nine confirmed contestants will compete across a number of categories which include Traditionally Inspired Wear, Sarong (Swim) Wear, Talent and an Interview.

These contestants are made up of a mixture of girls from the mainland as well as contestants from Samoan diaspora communities abroad like those in New Zealand and Australia.

The girl who wins Miss Samoa will represent Samoa at the annual Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.

Representing New Zealand is Miss Samoa NZ, Natalie Leitulagi Toevai, who was crowned at the Fale Samoa in Mangere in July.

While the finale of the Miss Samoa pageant, where the winner is announced and crowned, is scheduled for next Saturday September 9 pre-pageant activities have already begun.
