Auckland City Councillor, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, 37, has been selected as the National Party candidate in the Maungakiekie electorate.
Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, 37, has been selected as the National Party candidate in the Maungakiekie electorate.
“I am honoured to be the National Party candidate. This is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family,” Mr Lotu-Iiga said.
“Like so many others, I share concerns over our nation’s direction. With spiking interest rates making mortgages unaffordable, punitive taxation affecting people’s desires to get ahead, and concerns over health services, residents need fresh leadership here and in Wellington”.
“My bond with Maungakiekie means locals would get a capable, hard working representative in a future National Government to deliver them well-deserved tax relief and change”.
Mr Lotu-Iiga and his family have lived locally for over 20 years. He is an Auckland City Councillor for the Tamaki-Maungakiekie ward, serves on the Board of Penrose High School and is involved in other local organisations.
Mr Lotu-Iiga has an MBA (Cambridge, UK), a law degree and a masters degree in economics (with honours) from the University of Auckland. He is currently Chairman of the City Development Committee on the Auckland City Council. He has previously worked a solicitor for Russell McVeagh in Auckland and consultant for Macquarie Bank in Sydney.
“I’ve been blessed with many opportunities and want to give something back by improving standards and aspirational goals for other New Zealanders,” Mr Lotu-Iiga said.
