Black Ferns claim fifth world cup title- watch the match highlights

In a thrilling Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 final the Black Ferns triumphed over England 41-32 at Kingspan Stadium in Belfast to claim their fifth world cup title - watch the highlights below!

New Zealand scored seven of the 11 tries in a match that was the proverbial game of two halves, they were down 17-5 in the first half before making an epic comeback dominating possession and territory in the second to win the World Cup for the fifth time.

Ensure they also remain top of the World Rugby Women's Rankings, the Black Ferns are the most successful side in the competition ever having won the tournament five times now in the years 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and now winning it back in 2017.

It also means New Zealand captain Fiao’o Faamausili can bow out on a high.

NZ Rugby congratulated the team on their efforts with Chairman Brent Impey saying the victory was the result of a lot of hard work.

“We are incredibly proud how the Black Ferns have performed throughout the campaign.

"The final was a brilliant showcase of rugby and I have no doubt the Black Ferns will have inspired young girls and boys across New Zealand with their performance.''

Wellington mayor Justin Lester let it be known via social media that a Wellington street parade is on the table to celebrate the team’s success, with a spokesman for Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) saying discussions were yet to take place for one in Auckland.

Perhaps a discussion more pertinent is fulltime contracts for the women’s national team, who have one of the best winning percentages in international rugby, with victory in close to 90 percent of their Tests.
