Pasifika Health Week at Waitemata

The Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Pasifika Week was launched at the Opening Ava Ceremony by the Matua Advisory Council on Monday December 4 at Waitakere Hospital. 



The programme, which also features at North Shore Hospital, includes Pacific Community Health Expos, Pasifika Nifo Dental, Pacific Research, Methodology & Engagement, Nursing and Mental Health and Resilience. Stalls include Smokefree Services (WDHB), Stroke Foundation, The Fono, Bowel Screening, Dental Services, Child, Women & Family Services and the Commission for Financial Capability.



Under the tagline Authentic Communication the Pacific Way, guests were welcomed by Manu Fotu followed by a blessing by Chaplain Sione Tu’ungafasi, a Tongan hymn and an opening prayer. 



Speakers at the opening included Dr Dale Bramley (WDHB CEO), Pulotu Bruce Levi (WDHB General Manager for Pacific Health) with Seinafolova Dr Meia Schmidt-Uili, a regular contributor to Pacific Peoples Health, the main speaker for the opening. 



The Performance Groups include Kelston Girls College – winners at this year’s ASB Polyfest, EFKS Te Atatu Junior Youth along with Cook Island and Niuean performance, art and food presentations.
