We round up some of our favourite videos of the week by, for, and/or about, the Pacific whether it be great music, funny videos or just plain cool.
1. Ben Mikha Discovery Channel 2017 Intern Entry Vid: The Island Lifestyle
This video of Samoa was filmed and edited by Samoan-Iraqian, South Auckland born and raised, Ben Mikha.
The video is Ben’s entry to the final public round to become the Discovery Intern.
Chosen out of 50,000 applicants to proceed to the next round, based off a public voting system, Ben is one step closer to making his dreams a reality.
In doing so he would be the first Pacific Islander to land an internship with the Discovery Channel.
Of the 25 finalists only five will progress to the interview stage, so Ben needs as many votes as he can get by the 19th of Feb.
Each day, people are given 10 new votes to cast on their favourite finalist and each vote gives the voter a chance to win $1000.
2. Fast and Furious 8 trailer featuring a track by Savage
One of our favourite Samoan-Kiwi rappers has a song featured in the new Fast & Furious 8 trailer. According to Savage’s facebook page he worked on the track ‘Push it’ with Kronic and Far East Movement. Check out the full track below.
3. Full track: Push It
4. Try not to sing challenge: Island style
This video all the way from Hawaii features some classic Pacific jams, of which participants are challenged not sing along to. A difficult feat, especially when we are such musical people.
5. Investec Super Rugby 2017 ad featuring Parris Goebel and her ReQuest Dance Crew
